BOOK PACKS

When are Booktime delivering the packs?

Head to the Booktime delivery schedule page for the latest information.

We have only just recieved our packs but the attached letter states the deadline for ordering additional materials passed on 28 November. What should I do?

Please be assured that the Booktime Helpline (01279 623 096) will remain active to allow schools who have received later deliveries to place re-orders. Please be aware that deliveries may take place after Christmas.

What do I do if there aren't enough book packs?

  • Please check the delivery label. In some cases DHL are staggering deliveries to schools, so if the docket attached to the box says 1 of 3, and they have only received 1 box, another 2 boxes will be arriving shortly
  • Please remember that book packs are only available to reception pupils. We cannot provide book packs for Year 1 or nursery children

If neither of the above apply, please ring our Helpline on 01279 623 096 or email

booktimehelpline@pearson.com

What about pupils starting school later in the school year?

  • You should already have enough book packs for all the pupils that are expected to start school in Reception/Primary 1 this school year (2008-09)
  • We ask that teachers store the book packs needed for further (2nd/3rd) intakes during the school year and give them to new pupils shortly after they start school

Do you provide translations of the materials in the Booktime book pack?

The ‘Reading with your Child' advice booklet for parents is available in 29 community languages. Please visit this page to download or to place an order

Is there any cost to the school or to the pupils/parents or Schools/Libraries?

No, the Booktime book packs and supporting materials provided are a free gift for pupils when they start school. The programme is run by national charity Booktrust.

  • The programme is funded jointly by education and publishing company Pearson and the Department of Children, Schools and Families in England
  • The programme is funded by education and publishing company Pearson in Scotland and Northern Ireland

Our reception class is mixed with our nursery/Year 1 class. Can we have extra pupil materials for these pupils too?

Booktime is targeted towards reception pupils (aged 4-5 years) starting school during the year 2007-08. We cannot provide Resource Packs for teachers or materials for pupils in any other school year, e.g. for nursery or Year 1 pupils.

We are an Independent School, how do we register for packs?

All reception age pupils are eligible to receive Booktime packs regardless of whether they are in State or Independent Education. We are currently carrying out a second campaign to encourage Voluntary, Private and Independent schools to register for Booktime, however, we appreciate that no exhasutive information exists for this sector and some schools may have been missed. To register your school for Booktime please send your details to Booktime@booktrust.org.uk

RESOURCE PACKS

(NB- Only Schools in ENGLAND receive resource packs)

We have received a Resource pack but no book packs

Resource packs will arrive prior to the book pack delivery so that teachers can plan activities. In some areas of the country the time between deliveries may be quite large.

We have received a Resource pack but it was addressed incorrectly

Please contact us at booktime@booktrust.org.uk with the following information; (a) Full postal address- we require both the amended address and the address marked on the parcel so that we can correct the record. (b) Contact Name and contact details

How many resource packs should I receive?

There is one resource pack for every primary school in England. Each contains one copy of each of the resources for every reception pupil in your class.

Can I have more Resource Packs for other teachers?

There is ONE Resource Pack per school in England.

We CAN provide:

Up to a maximum of ONE EXTRA School Resource Pack if the school has more than 60 pupils and the reception teachers, teaching assistants or literacy coordinators want to use them at the same time.

What if there aren't enough resources for all reception pupils?

You should have received one of each of the pupil materials (stickers, bookmarks, bookplates) for every reception child (aged 4-5 years) due to start school during the year 2008-09. This number should match the amount of book-packs you have recieved. If there are not enough please contact the Booktime Helpline on 01279 623 096 or booktimehelpline@pearson.com. If you order additional book-packs you will automatically recieve additional child resource compnents to the same number.

Can you send us more leaflets or information about library services, membership, or any linked activities and events?

Please contact your local library services.
