In 2009 the title of the free book that each reception pupil will receive as a gift in the autumn term is Mr Big by Ed Vere (Puffin).
Every Primary 1 child in Scotland will receive a blue book bag consisting of:
- Mr Big by Ed Vere (Puffin)
- Booktime Top Tips poster
- Memo for parents and carers
Additionally, teachers will receive:
- A teacher copy of Mr Big
- Mr Big poster
- A teacher card
Each book pack is a gift from education and publishing company Pearson. Booktime is managed by independent charity Booktrust in partnership with Scottish Book Trust, the leading agency for the promotion of literature, reading and writing in Scotland.
Booktime was inspired by Bookstart and is supported in Scotland by the Scottish Government.
