Children in Northern Ireland received their free Booktime packs in the spring term of 2010.
The title of the free book that each Primary 1 pupil received was Mr Big by Ed Vere (Puffin).
Every Primary 1 child in Northern Ireland received a blue book bag containing:
- Mr Big by Ed Vere (Puffin)
- Booktime Top Tips poster
- Memo for parents and carers
- Additionally, teachers will receive:
- A teacher copy of Mr Big
- Mr Big poster
- A teacher information card
Each book pack is a gift from education and publishing company Pearson. Booktime works in partnership with Northern Ireland’s five Education and Library boards to build links between schools, libraries and families.
Booktime is managed by Booktrust, an independent charity which encourages people of all ages and cultures to discover and enjoy reading. The Booktime programme in Northern Ireland is supported by the Department of Education.
