You can use the Booktime packs and resources as a great springboard for promoting reading and libraries in your area.
We've been lucky enough to have heard some wonderful examples of how Booktime can be used in the local authorities of Kent and Lincolnshire...
Kent
- Musical events - worked with an organisation called Music for Change to arrange a series of Booktime-themed performances in libraries. An African drummer performed shows based around Mr Big
- Working in prisons - used Booktime packs and activity sheets for Family Days in eight prisons
- Raising publicity - used the resources in the Booktime communications toolkit to create publicity Booktime materials around Mr Big, including leaflets that were delivered to 16,000 reception-aged children.

Lincolnshire

- Young carers were targeted
- Using the Mr Big story book, the sessions were based around self esteem
- The children created story sacks, in which they put all things that made them happy - including finger puppets, pictures of Mr Big

In Essex we developed a class visit pack based aroud Mr Big but focusing on the theme of friendship. This complements a pack for older children in yrs 5 and 6 challenging bullying called "Being different - Belonging together"
