Meet the team - part 1

We've asked various people involved with Booktime to write a little about themselves and their role with the programme. This week, it's Andy from the Booktime team.
Who are you and what is your role within Booktime?
I'm Andy and I'm the Booktime Information and Logistics coordinator.
Can you explain what your role means and what you do day-to-day for Booktime?
Well, as the title suggests, I coordinate information and logistics! But what this involves is insuring our packs reach as many eligible Booktime children as possible, which means working with our enormous database of every primary school in the country, and keeping in touch with our magnificent distribution team at Pearson and Absolutely Trading who deliver the book packs and resources throughout the country.
Through a great team effort, virtually all of the book packs and resources for schools have been delivered for this year, which is pretty amazing considering we're delivering to nearly 20,000 schools! For the rest of the autumn term we'll be handling any re-orders that come in through our helpline, where schools can order additional book packs for any additional reception children that they may not have a book pack for. Booktime and Booked Up are go!

Fantastic news! Tuesday saw the launch of our Booktime and Booked Up programmes to give children 2 million free books across the UK.
If you're a regular reader, you'll know we've been building up to this point for a while now. Everyone in the office is really excited, and we're looking forward to getting out there and seeing how things are going, and to hearing your thoughts and stories about the books we've given out.
To mark the launch we're also publishing details of some research we've done into books and reading at home. It makes for really interesting reading I think. For example, children's interest in reading is growing - and in fact they'd love their parents to read with them more regularly. But just one in three parents and carers read with their child on a daily basis.
Hopefully initiatives like ours can change things like that for the better. We'd like to think so anyway. And TV personality Kirsty Gallacher seems to agree with us. She says:
