Each month we choose a book for shared storytime which we feel deserves special attention
We aim to pick books we feel would make a perfect shared story for you and your child. We'd love to hear what you think of our selections, or any suggestions for books you have enjoyed with your child.
This month we recommend Shark and Lobster's Amazing Undersea Adventure by Viviane Schwarz.
Published by Walker Books
One terrible day, Shark admits to Lobster that he's SCARED of tigers. Now lobster's scared too, and helped by the Cuttlefish, they build a fortress. But despite a courageous song, they're still afraid.
Lobster suggests they find a HUGE BIG MONSTER from the deep to defend their fortress. Surely now they will be safe? But when the monster wakes and ROARS, it is the scariest thing ever – and tigers suddenly seem less terrifying!
This book's unusual design – pages turning from bottom to top, rather than side to side, helps create the sensation of floating through this turquoise undersea world, and both story and illustrations have a touch of Python-like eccentricity!
More graphic novel than picture book and definitely one for older readers – a real adventure!
