Lots of libraries use the Booktime library resource pack to create displays.

This provides a valuable visible connection for parents and children who may visit the library for the first time as a result of the Booktime book gifting programme. Some key tips are:

  • Try to display a Booktime poster (found in the library resource packs or online here) so it can be seen from outside the library, by passers by, showing that the library is linking to the Booktime book gifting programme.
  • Use displays to promote some central key messages:-
    - joining and using the library is free and easy
    - Sharing stories at home is fun
    - Reading together helps children’s success at school
    - The library has great stories to share and enjoy
    - Library staff will be happy to help
  • Some libraries produce special customised Booktime posters and flyers; others use their regular publicity to promote these messages
  • Inside the library use face out displays of attractive picture books to promote the message that reading is fun. Let people borrow from the display, keeping it topped up from returns or from the library shelves.
  • Download and use resources from the Booktime website to enhance your display such as the Booktime event flyer and Booktime branded posters
